I have a confession to make: I am 25 years old, I have a Bachelors degree in Literature, I work in a bookstore, and I am just now reading To Kill a Mockingbird for the first time.

We are eagerly looking forward to our Community Book Group event on Tuesday, July 20th at 7:30 when we will be celebrating and discussing the classic novel, To Kill a Mockingbird—complete with courtroom re-enactments from the book. We hope you can join us!
From Wallace Baine’s article in the Sentinel:
Fifty years ago this week, one of the most ennobling literary characters in American history was first introduced to the world’s readers. And ever since, real-life would-be heroes have struggled to live up to his standards of decency and integrity.
He is, of course, Atticus Finch, the centerpiece of Harper Lee’s beloved 1960 novel “To Kill a Mockingbird,” the Southern lawyer whose wisdom and courage have served as exemplars for just about every American lawyer, every dad, even every human being.
Finch’s spirit will surely be hanging in the air when the Bookshop Santa Cruz hosts a unique celebration of the 50th anniversary of “Mockingbird” next Tuesday.
